Hidden in Plain Sight: Child Labor Trafficking & Intersections with CSE
Hidden in Plain Sight: Child Labor Trafficking & Intersections with CSE
Across the U.S. — including here in California — children are coerced, deceived, or forced into unsafe work. Some labor in fields, restaurants, or homes, while others are pushed into criminal acts like selling drugs or recruiting peers. Labor trafficking hides in plain sight and often overlaps with Commercial Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and forced criminality. Traffickers prey on vulnerable youth, especially those who’ve experienced foster care, homelessness, or juvenile justice involvement. This training shines a light on these hidden realities. Together, we’ll learn to spot the signs, respond with empathy, and connect young people to safety and support.
Participants will:
- Understand child labor trafficking and the industries where it occurs
- Recognize common indicators and overlaps with CSE
- Learn strategies to apply trauma-informed care through a coordinated response
- Access local, state, and national resources
